Installing an Epigeum course:

Follow these steps to add an Epigeum course content package to a course as a Content Item:

  1. Open your course and go to the area where you want the Epigeum course to appear.
  2. Click on the 'Build Content' button and select 'Content Package (IMS)'.
  3. Give the course a title and click the 'Browse My Computer' button.
  4. Select the Epigeum course from your computer to upload.
  5. Choose your desired settings for the course (we recommend 'Navigation Control Type = Choice' and 'Track Number of Views = Yes') and then click the 'Submit' button.
  6. You will see a message saying 'Success: Content Added'. You will also be able to see the course has been installed as a content package in the list of contents. Select 'Click to Launch' to view the course.

I CAN'T SEE CONTENT PACKAGE (IMS) IN THE DROP-DOWN LIST - what do I do?

This is a common issue, and is easily resolved, but it requires a university Blackboard administrator to enable Content Packaging so it appears as a content option. To resolve this, direct your university Blackboard administrator to this page and ask them to follow these steps:

NOTE: You may be able to do this yourself, depending on the level of access rights you have. If you have system admin access, you will notice the 'System Admin' tab at the top of the screen. If you can't see this, please forward the instructions below to your Blackboard administrator to enable Content Package (IMS).

  1. Click on 'System Admin' tab.
  2. Under the 'Tools and Utilities' heading, click 'Tools'.
  3. A list will be shown with items in alphabetical order. Click through the pages until you see 'Content Package (IMS)'.
  4. Under the 'Available' column, there should be an X next to Content Package (IMS).
  5. On the arrow button next to 'Content Package (IMS)', click and select 'Edit'.
  6. Under the heading 'Tool Availability', select 'Yes' and then click the 'Submit' button.

Once these steps have been carried out, you will have the Content Packaging option available in the 'Build Content' menu, allowing you to install an Epigeum course.

Installing the course quizzes in Blackboard 9:

Part 1: Import the quiz

  1. Unzip the Blackboard quiz file to show all of the course quizzes as separate zip files.
  2. Under the 'Control Panel' header, click on 'Course Tools'. In the menu that appears, click on 'Tests, Surveys, and Pools'.
  3. On the 'Tests, Surveys, and Pools' page, click on 'Tests'.
  4. Click on the 'Import Test' button.
  5. Under the heading 'Test Import', click the 'Browse My Computer' button.
  6. Select the Epigeum quiz from your computer to upload.
  7. Click on the 'Submit' button.
  8. You will see a message saying 'Test Import Complete'.

The quiz has now been uploaded.

Part 2: Add the quiz to the course area

  1. Go to the area where you want the Epigeum quiz to appear.
  2. Click on the 'Create Assessment' button and select 'Test'.
  3. Under the heading 'Add Test', you will see your imported test in the list. Select the test you want to display and then click on the 'Submit' button.
  4. You will see a message saying 'Success: test_name created'. On this screen you can add a description and modify the release and scoring settings of the quiz if you wish.
  5. Click on the 'Submit' button.

The quiz has now been added to your course.
