Business Development Manager

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive sales professional looking to make their mark in online publishing for Higher Education. The role involves selling online training courses to universities worldwide.

Purpose of the role: We are a small, friendly expanding company and due to our ambitious growth plans are now seeking to add to the sales team. You will be responsible mainly for developing new business opportunities both within the UK and internationally. There will be some overseas travel involved in this role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Extensive customer telephone contact
  • Direct sales contact with clients; senior academics, learning and teaching staff, training programme administrators.
  • Initial contact will be by phone and email followed by client visits and presentations
  • Meeting monthly financial sales targets
  • Pro-actively finding and developing new business opportunities
  • Attending relevant conferences to promote Epigeum courses to universities
  • Keeping in regular contact with clients to keep abreast of their needs and their experience with Epigeum courses
  • Providing outstanding level of customer support and care
  • Take a pro-active role in ensuring that Epigeum keeps at the forefront of eLearning developments and uses the most effective sales techniques available
  • Keeping accurate and up to date sales records via Salesforce CRM system
  • Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Manager to ensure all set objectives are met

Financial Accountant

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our back office team. The Financial accountant will be an all rounder, processing the day to day financial transactions undertaken by the company. We are looking for a person who is into their first year of CIMA or ACCA training. You will have some work experience working for the finance group in a dynamic and fast moving environment.

You will have a passion for accuracy and find fulfilment in your work by meeting deadlines and engaging with external and internal stakeholders. You will take pride in your work and appreciate the importance of the task at hand to the company as a whole.

Ultimately, we are looking a service oriented, communicative and ambitious individual. We are a rapidly growing company and this position is poised to grow accordingly.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with other departments to ensure the accuracy of the operational accounts. This includes the sales team to ensure that supplemental administrative systems, such as Salesforce agree to ledger accounts, as well as the development teams to help keep the projects on a solid financial course.
  • raise sales invoices according to contractual terms
  • perform credit control to assist in cash flow management and produce monthly ageing of debtors as part of management reporting
  • creditors control, invoice processing and expense claim processing
  • prepare weekly payment run for approval
  • process bank transactions and reconcile bank accounts
  • coordinate payroll in UK and US offices
  • prepare monthly management report, including department reporting
  • provide assistance in the preparation of the board report
  • any ad hoc analyses as required

We are looking for a web developer to join our in-house team, who will be responsible for building content for our online courses and website. We are looking for a range of skills including HTML and ActionScript, and experience of HTML5 would also be an advantage.

You will be a developer who has a passion for your work. You will need to be an expert in development tools such as Dreamweaver and Flash, and have experience also working with CSS and JavaScript. Our courses cover challenging ideas and require high level interactivity to meet the demand of our large audience.

More than anything, we are looking for someone with a genuine enthusiasm for the work.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The main role is to help us build our courses. To:
    • work as part of the development team
    • build HTML course pages and page templates
    • create and edit interactive exercises using HTML and ActionScript
    • update existing courses, to bring their interactivity and designs up to date with our most current products
    • ensure our courses are accessible
  • Also part of the role: To help us look good in front of our customers. To:
    • develop interactive content for our website
    • maintain the website
    • ensure our course pages and website are rock solid, with unbreakable code (this post requires a high level of attention to detail)
  • Also part of the role: To help us maintain our reputation for high quality, state-of-the-art products. By:
    • being proactive in suggesting how our products can be better designed
    • actively keeping abreast of e-learning developments and design trends to ensure our products and marketing are designed to the highest possible standard

Senior Learning Consultant

We are looking for a senior learning consultant who will play a key role in ensuring university clients successfully implement our online training courses.

Universities know they should embrace online training, but are not always sure how to get started. We are looking for a talented learning consultant to assist our university clients in achieving the strategic shift from traditional workshop-based provision towards a more flexible blended approach to training. This role will involve working closely with universities to develop and execute implementation programmes tailored to their individual contexts. These programmes cover the full implementation cycle from identifying learning goals to measuring impact.

This is a challenging but rewarding position. The Senior Learning Consultant will embed themself as a trusted advisor to our university clients, ensuring the successful adoption and impact of Epigeum online courses while also ascertaining new opportunities.

Essential requirements

  • At least 2 years' experience in a learning technology role, preferably within higher education
  • Demonstrable knowledge of blended learning pedagogy including course design
  • An excellent understanding of the organisational culture within universities and the issues faced when implementing online training programmes
  • Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to explain technical issues to those with or without a technical background
  • Proven ability in the use of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), for example Blackboard or Moodle
  • Experience of teaching and/or learning online
  • Degree educated in a technical discipline
  • Must be able to make client site visits throughout the UK and overseas if required

Experienced freelance editors

We are always keen to hear from experienced freelance editors who are interested in working on our projects.

Our in-house editorial team carries out the bulk of the editorial work but we sometimes use freelances to help us with copy editing, proofreading, bug checking, transcription and permissions. For this kind of work, prospective freelances need to have prior experience of copy editing and proofreading in digital publishing (preferably within a higher education context), an outstanding eye for detail and impeccable spelling, punctuation and grammar.

We also very occasionally use freelancers to help with more substantial editing work, including structural editing, reworking of text and instructional design. For this kind of work, freelances need proven experience of developing first-class interactive online learning materials, a flair for creating imaginative, meaningful online activities, strong writing skills and a passion for clear and concise text.
