Flash Developer

Salary in the range: £23,000 - £27,000 per annum + bonus + benefits (depending on experience)

An exciting new post for a Flash Developer looking to make their mark.

Epigeum is one of the UK's leading eLearning companies. We build high-quality, online interactive courses used by 100,000s of staff and students at leading universities in the UK, US, Europe and Australasia. We are affiliated to Imperial College London and based on the College's South Kensington Campus in an nice, airy office overlooking a large garden. We are a small but rapidly growing company and are now seeking to bolster our development team with a new Flash developer. You will be responsible for developing interative learning objects found in our courses, and developing the Epigeum website and Learning Portals.

You will be a skilled developer and have a passion for your work. You will need to be an expert in web development tools such as Flash and Dreamweaver, and have experience in using ActionScript, HTML and JavaScript. You need to be able to build interactive activities and ideally you should have experience of developing learning materials in Flash. Our courses cover challenging ideas so you will need to use your brain to get to grips with the material. A knowledge of eLearning technologies such as VLEs, SCORM, IMS and development tools is useful but, more than this, we are looking for someone with a genuine enthusiasm for the work.

Junior Editor – Leading Online PUBLISHER within Higher Education

Epigeum is the UK's leading publisher of online course training courses for Higher Education. We are a small but growing company affiliated to Imperial College London, based on the main campus in South Kensington. We build our courses in conjunction with a large number of world renowned experts and prominent universities, both in the UK and around the world. Our courses make extensive use of interactive multi-media are renowned for the quality of their design and pedagogy.

We are looking for someone with first class experience in editing online materials and/or commercial academic materials such as textbooks, preferably within the Higher Education context. Strong writing skills are essential together with a passion for quality, clarity, and a keen attention to detail. We are looking for someone highly self-motivated, and in return offer a friendly and enthusiastic working environment set in a beautiful area of London.   • Personally editingand proof-reading courses as part of our ongoing course development

Person specification

Qualifications/Training:

Essential:

At least two years' experience in editing in Higher Education, which should inlcude online editing:

  • Educated to degree level, at a good standard
  • First class experience in editing online materials and/or commercial academic materials such as textbooks, preferably within the Higher Education context
  • strong and demonstrable editing, writing, analyrtical and communication skills
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects and deliver within budget to tight deadline
  • Experience of working within cross discipline teams.

Desirable

  • A postgraduate qualification
  • Experience in publishing multimedia content such as video and interactive materials
  • An understanding of the principles and good practices in eLearning.

Freelance Editors - Leading Online PUBLISHER within Higher Education

Deadline for applications – 22nd June 2010 + ongoing

We are currently and continuously looking for freelance editors to work on our projects. Candidates should possess:

  • First class experience in editing online materials and/or commercial academic materials such as textbooks, preferably within the Higher Education context.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects and deliver within budget to tight deadlines.
  • Track record of managing / helping junior editors.
  • Experience of working within cross discipline teams.
  • Strong and demonstrable editing skills
  • Strong writing skills together with a passion for quality, clarity, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to work with academics and convert their ideas into good online courses
  • The confidence to deal with senior academics or university staff
