Epigeum and Durham University’s combined submission was for their joint work on developing and implementing 15 Research Skills online courses for postgraduate students, using the IMS common cartridge. This common technical platform for online courses has enabled Research Skills online to become the widest adoption of the common cartridge across Europe. The courses themselves have now been licensed by 50 institutions in the UK and Ireland. A further 14 universities also participated in the initial course development including Aberdeen, Cambridge, Birmingham, Cardiff, City, Cranfield, Imperial, King's College London, Limerick, Liverpool, Reading, Warwick, UCD and UCL.

Epigeum and Durham faced stiff competition from a multitude of other bids from around the world. Their initial submission to the judges can be viewed on: http://www.epigeum.co.uk/presentations/IMS/.

The IMS Learning Impact Awards are designed to recognise the most impactful use of technology worldwide in support of learning. This unique programme evaluates established, new, and research efforts in context at an implementing learning institution.
