Epigeum announces the launch of Student Study Skills online': a suite of 15 online, multi-media rich courses aimed to help students make the transition into university life.

Each course will be built to Epigeum’s usual high, pedagogic standards and will contain a wealth of video drama, documentary interviews, practice scenarios and course quizzes.

Once complete, the courses will form a comprehensive core of training that universities can adapt to individual departmental needs. For universities facing twin pressures of scarce resources and increasing demands from students for high-quality web-based training, Student Skills online is a perfect solution.

Topics will include:

  • Transition points (school or work to university)
  • Getting the most from your time at university
  • Knowing yourself as a learner
  • Working at a distance / part-time study
  • Working in groups
  • Revision, exams and other forms of assessment
  • Information literacy
  • Reading skills
  • Academic writing – Argument based-essays
  • Academic writing – projects and lab reports
  • Academic writing – reflective writing
  • Avoiding plagiarism
  • Managing your time
  • Presenting your work
  • Managing budgets

The project is being run in development with 10 universities and educational institutes from the UK and Ireland. The courses will be available for general release in summer 2010.
