Customisation

If we customise the courses, what happens when updates are released?

This is one of the reasons that Epigeum allows universities to add/delete screens, rather than edit existing ones. Screens that you have added to the courses can be easily reproduced and then added to an updated course. The ‘Your context’ pods can also be identified easily so that they can be pasted into updated courses.

‘Your context’ pods: What is the character/word limit?

‘Your Context’ pods will stretch depending on how much text you put into them. No scroll bar will appear. Also, the title boxes will overflow onto a new line if the character limit for that line is reached. The character limit for the title of the box in the right-hand margin is approximately 20 characters, and for the pop-up box title it is 45 characters.

How can we add questions to the testbank? Does this require coding ability?

No. Instructions on how to install the quizzes as question banks can be found in the videos on the ‘Help and support’ pages of this website. Once these are installed, you can add questions to the question bank via the VLE in the question builder.

Can we take an activity or video from a course page and embed it elsewhere? Can we link/signpost directly to a specific screen in a course?

Signposting to a page in a course is not possible, as it is hidden behind a VLE login screen. Also, linking between screens is not possible within a VLE. It is also not possible to link from an Epigeum course page to other tools like blogs or wikis, though you could add a new pod which describes the tool and directs users towards it). Universities can take activities and embed them elsewhere, however, this will require hosting the entire course on a server, as activities and videos rely on files that use relative links.

Assets and resources

Can Epigeum provide electronic images for websites, newsletters etc?

We have a selection of imagery available, such as screenshots from the courses, and are working to produce further assets which universities can use to promote the courses/improve the look of their VLE/website. To find out what’s available, please email implementation@oup.com.

Course Features

How often are the links in ‘Useful links’ pods checked?

We check these every 6 months. Links are stored on the Epigeum server so we can update/remove broken links without the need to send out updated course files to universities. If you spot a broken link, please mail implementation@oup.com.

Miscellaneous

What should I do if I have a question that isn’t covered here?

Email epigeum.support@oup.com.
