What is bystander intervention and how does it work in practice at universities?
Inspired by the University of Roehampton’s commitment to enforcing a zero-tolerance approach to sexual violence and providing a safe environment for all, we invited members of the Bystander Intervention team to discuss their work in the areas of consent and bystander intervention, and the role that our Consent Matters course has played in these initiatives – sharing practical strategies for effective implementation, and insights into their plans for the future.
Consent Matters: Boundaries, Respect, and Positive Intervention is an award-winning, evidence-based online course focused on the areas of sexual consent, communication and relationships, and bystander intervention. The course uses engaging activities, polls, and relatable character scenarios to help students understand consent and promote positive change in their university community.
