Founded as a spin-out from Imperial College London by David Babington-Smith and David Lefevre, Epigeum this week marks Epigeum’s 10th anniversary as pioneers of online innovation for higher education. From an initial idea of a course around Intellectual Property in Higher Education and a desire to provide the highest possible quality online learning, Epigeum have enjoyed remarkable growth and now work with 250 universities worldwide and have helped tens of thousands of students and staff move online.
We’ve done this through our unique model of bringing together leading universities and subject experts from around the world to develop subject-specific, peer-reviewed content. We’ve created 19 collaborations in this way so far and we continue to refine and perfect the approach with every new programme utilising the different ideas and inputs from universities across the globe. By pooling knowledge, resources, expertise and best practice, the outcome is a course that far superior to anything a single institution can achieve alone.
“As Epigeum we’re learning that to produce transformative education it’s really a question of developing a partnership with the university”, David Babington-Smith, Co-Founder and Director says of the Epigeum approach. We’re looking forward now to how to make our programmes and courses as effective as possible by ensuring we continually stay ahead of the online learning curve, working closely with each of our international partners.
David Lefevre, Co-Founder and Chairman praises the ethos and commitment of the Epigeum team in contributing to the success of the last decade: “Through the endeavours of all of us here at Epigeum hopefully we’ve had a small but significant, positive impact of education and that’s something of which we should all be proud.”
