Following the success of the inaugural conference in Edinburgh 2013, where over 120 delegates from 13 different countries had the opportunity to share and discuss practice related to doctoral education, the 2nd ICDDET aims to build on this achievement and will offer further in depth exploration of significant issues in the rapidly changing field of doctoral education.

The 2nd ICDDET will take place at the historic Examination Schools, University of Oxford on the 30th- 31st March 2015. The motivation of the conference is to provide an opportunity to benchmark and share developments in the progress of doctoral education and training through an international congress. Some of the key themes will include:

  • National and International Doctoral Policy
  • The Structured Doctorate
  • Doctoral Candidates in the Digital Age
  • Self-directed and peer support in researchers’ development
  • Characteristics of effective supervisors and strategies for development

Dr David Lefevre, Epigeum Co-Founder and Director of the Educational Technology Unit at the Imperial College Business School is delighted to be confirmed as a keynote speaker at the conference. David acknowledges the significance of this international summit, declaring “For those of us involved in doctoral education, this is an important and influential event which will help shape the future of PhD programmes. We are happy and proud to act as a sponsor”.

The Epigeum team looks forward to welcoming the delegates at the conference this year in Oxford. To book your place, sign up on UK Council for Graduate Education website .
