Launch of new student skills collaboration in North America

October 27, 2015

Support students through the Research Process with Research and Writing Skills for Undergraduate Projects and Theses

Following the success of Research and Writing Skills for Dissertations and Projects, Epigeum has launched a new collaboration for North American universities to support students through common challenges in the research process. This collaboration will develop a program of ten accessible online modules to help undergraduate students through the research process and encourage them to develop skills in planning, researching and presenting their findings.

Undergraduate research is a high-impact educational practice, but many students find the research process challenging. Research and Writing Skills for Undergraduate Projects and Theses enables proactive support of students throughout their research.

Students will be able to access the online program whenever and wherever they need to, allowing them to enhance their undergraduate research skills and manage the research and writing of the project. The program will provide students with the opportunity to learn ways to generate ideas, ask questions, read carefully and complete a literature review, select and design the research approach, develop a coherent structure for presenting their findings, and develop the explanation or argument convincingly.

This initiative will be lead advised by Julio Rivera, a leader in the undergraduate research field and past President of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR). Program highlights will include:

  • 10 multimedia rich and highly-interactive online modules
  • 30 minutes of coursework per module
  • Coursework delivered in text and video content with interactive activities
  • Examples from a range of disciplines

Joining an Epigeum collaboration enables universities to help shape the curriculum and peer-review the materials in development, whilst benefitting from being part of a development group sharing best practice, knowledge and expertise. Find out more about what an Epigeum collaboration involves.

For information on joining this collaboration as a founder member, please email Fran Ammar, Business Development Director, North America fran.ammar@epigeum.com
